Proponents Weight Watchers (WW) calculator will allow you to easily calculate and monitor food points to make your diet plans easier.
Formula
In the Weight Watchers diet, a wide variety of foods are classified by points. Instead of counting calories, ProPoints are assigned to facilitate weight loss. This calculation is based on the energy and nutrient content of the food. More precisely, how much energy the body needs to process the nutrient in question. The more energy it needs, the better for losing weight.
Calculation of individual ProPoints
Each member gets an individual number of points calculated as a daily ration. The calculation takes into account age, weight, height, gender and activities. The amount of points depends on whether weight is to be reduced or maintained. Weight Watchers provides the following guidelines for personal point determination for calculation:
Gender: women receive 7 points, men receive 15 points.
Age: The age group from 18 to 20 years receives 5 points, from 21 to 35 years 4 points, from 36 to 50 years 3 points, from 51 to 65 years 2 points and who is over 65 years, receives only 1 point.
Weight: From the current weight, the tens are taken into account as the number of points. (Example: 143.3 pounds(65 kg) would be 6 points, 264.6 pounds (120 kg) would be 12 points).
Height: Persons under 63 Inch (1.60 m) get 1 point, over 63 Inch (1.60 m) 2 points.
Activity/occupation: If mainly sedentary, 0 points. In case of mainly standing and only intermittently sitting activity 2 points. For mainly walking, intermittently standing activity, 4 points. And for physically strenuous activity 6 points.
Other: If you want to lose weight 0 points, if you want to keep your weight 4 points. Sports activities increase the daily points budget by 1 point.
When the individual desired weight is reached, also taking into account the body mass index (BMI), a maintenance phase follows over 6 weeks. The personal ProPoints value is increased step by step. It is important here that the achieved desired weight attains stability.
Calculate the score for a food
To calculate a food's score, Weight Watchers offers a variety of supporting products. These are under copyright protection and are only available to paying members. In addition to the Calculator, which shows the ProPoints values of foods, there are shopping guides and recipe books.
Still, there is a simplified formula: (fat content/9)+(kcal/60) = Points. If you want to be a little more precise: (fat content x 0.11) + (kcal x 0.0165) = Points
Example: Matjeshering/Portion: (fat 17,4 x 0,11) + (212 kcal x 0,0165) = (1,91) + (3,49) = 5,4= 5 Points
Exceptions to the ProPoints calculation
Points do not apply to most fruits and vegetables, so they can be eaten in any quantity.
To allow greater flexibility, Weight Watchers still allows its participants a weekly quota of 35 to 49 extra points that can be used individually.
In addition, it is possible to collect Active ProPoints through physical activity, which can be used immediately or saved up.
